Bibio is Stephen Wilkinson and his recent Ambivalence Avenue debut release on Warp is fantastic stuff. This is exactly what I need right now and perfect for the summer. The closest comparison that comes to mind is Boards of Canada but Bibio touches upon a huge eclectic mix of sounds and genres, particularly on this release. He’ll go from sounding like Boards of Canada, to classic funk on “Jealous of Roses”, to Kings of Convenience on “Haikuesque (When She Laughs)”, to something of a mix between Aphex Twin and Daft Punk on “S’Vive”, and Jose Gonzalez on “The Palm Of Your Wave.” My god, I know. This is already turning to become one of my favorite releases of 2009. Check out some of the major standouts below…

Fire Ant

Haikuesque (When She Laughs)
