new releases: 4.7.09

Two stellar releases this week! Be sure to pick up both!

Doves return in fine form after 4 long years. Kingdom of Rust sees them continuing even further in expanding their sound and progression towards new sounds and genres. They pull together a somewhat schizophrenic yet cohesive album implementing common themes of travel and searching for old memories. It’s taken quite some time and the band, known for their perfectionist tendencies, pull through in the end with something fully rewarding and further proving their longevity, even if it does take another 4 years. NME has an exclusive interview video here.

Bat For Lashes (aka Natasha Khan) returns in her follow-up to her debut Fur and Gold. With Two Suns she tackles more Kate Bushisms and goes even further in creating some of the most fresh and pleasant sounds from a female artist in a while. Other standout tracks besides “Daniel” are the opener “Glass”, “Siren Song”, and the fantastic closer duet with Scott Walker “The Big Sleep”.
